Here we have a new roof installation. So let’s take a look!
In the pictures above, it is very obvious that this garage needs a brand new roof. Many of the asphalt shingles have been torn away by wind storms.
So, the owner gives us a call and before you know it, we are out there handling business.

We begin by laying a layer of roofing paper first. Then we put our starter strip of shingles at the edges of our roof making sure to overhang a bit so that rain water falls into the gutters and not between fascia and gutters. Our starter strip consists of asphalt shingles installed upside down first. And then asphalt shingles attached directly on top with the correct side up. We always stagger shingle joints.
So now, we work our way up one level at a time from all four sides. And for a more efficient install, we choose to fasten shingles with pneumatic roofing nailers. Then, that is followed by attaching ridge caps on the corners where the sides meet. And those ridge caps can be fabricated on site out of 3-tab asphalt shingles.
