Here we are installing a pocket door and also a barn door. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to take any before photos. But, I can tell you that there was a small closet with bi-fold doors. First, we removed the doors and demolished the wall. Then, we built a new wall, with door opening, about two feet out to make for a deeper closet. This closet will also serve as a short hallway to the bathroom. ‘Reason why we cut an opening in the bathroom wall.
We also lay tarps on the floors and cover any belongings with protective plastic.
The pocket door is being installed in a non-load-bearing wall. Therefore it is not necessary to install a larger header. A 2 x 4 header will do the job. Pre-assembled pocket door frames can be purchased at your local home improvement store. You can choose from a variety of different style door slabs. The slab is sold separate from the frame.
We also hang the drywall and then tape and finish it. And finally, we install the barn door track and hardware and then hang the barn door.
